Tiffany

The Tiffany diamond is the world’s largest yellow diamond. In addition to its rich color, this stone also features a unique brilliance, having 32 additional facets compared to a standard round brilliant cut. Every facet that makes this stone sparkle is precisely captured in the museum-quality replicas by The Stonecutter.

Tiffany & Co. has been the sole owner

The Tiffany diamond was studied by Tiffany & Co.’s gemologist, George Frederick Kunz, for a year before the cutting began. The cutting removed more than 56% of the rough’s mass. The additional facets create what diamond historian Herbert Tillander calls a “stellar brilliant cut.”

Tiffany Diamond History

Ironically, this brilliant stone has a very dull history. Tiffany & Co. has been the sole owner of the diamond since it was unearthed in 1878. However, since its cutting, the Tiffany diamond has graced the neck of only two women, one of which earned the stone Hollywood’s attention—Audrey Hepburn, who wore the Tiffany diamond for photos to promote Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961.
